EU announces guidance on ABS regulation

What activities are considered ‘utilization of genetic resources’ under the EU ABS regulation?

To support companies, research institutions and other organizations involved in biodiversity-based innovation, the European Commission has issued guidance on the application of ABS rules in the EU. This document addresses topics such as the geographical and temporal scope of ABS rules, the due diligence obligation for users and the events that trigger a due diligence declaration.

Such guidance will be complemented with guidelines for specific sectors, including pharmaceutical and cosmetics, currently are under development.
